Senator Thomas (R) of Wy. dies

I will admit I know little or nothing about his Senator. He flew under the radar. My deepest sympathy to his family. —– From WaPo: Wyoming Sen. Craig Thomas, a three-term conservative Republican who stayed clear of the Washington limelight and political catfights, died Monday. He was 74. The senator’s family issued a statement saying he died Monday evening at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. He had been receiving chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia.

I heard an interview with the Washington Post’s Thomas Ricks on the Al Franken show.  He was outstanding.  I think that progressives have had reports of incompetence but for the first time we really have a clear picture with this book, Fiasco and the outstanding book, Cobra II.  Whether you are a progressive or a conservative, these two books clearly been delineated the problems that we’ve had in Iraq.  The problems come not from execution of a brilliant plan but yet the incompetence and the capitulation of General Tommy Franks, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld (although they don’t directly implicate him
