Bush Addresses Nation on Economy

President Bush addressed the nation tonight to discuss the economy. He has become extremely good at giving the serious-but-frightening speeches: “Without immediate action by Congress, America could slip into a financial panic and a distressing scenario would unfold.” A little dramatic. If anyone was still wondering whether Bush was a lame duck president, all of these questions should now be answered. Bush is not known for being agreeable or pliable with Congress, but now he appears to be both. In tonight’s speech, he endorsed many of the restrictions and changes proposed by both conservatives and liberals. In a word, he “caved.”
