The Errington Thompson Show 3/24/07

Somehow, I skipped posting my March 24th show. I’m not sure what happened. Anyway, this is a great show if I do say so myse’f. Valerie Plame testifies in front of Congress. It was great to see her. She addressed several issues that the right were still playing with. She clearly stated that she was still covert at the time of her outing. Because so many on the Right have been trying to play this card, I go thru the exact definition of covert. Bill Scher and I discuss the US Attorney scandal. We also discuss that Murray Waas article in the National Journal about Alberto Gonzales. Seems that a Justice Department probe looking into the domestic spying was pointing to Alberto himself. He may have been the reason that the Justice Department officials couldn’t get security clearance to investigate the case. These topics and more.

The Errington Thompson Show 1/20/07

We start off and say a few words about Art Buchwald and Michael Brecker who both died this week. The White house backs off domestic wiretaps. Why? They swore that the president had the right to tap anyone’s phone without any oversight. As soon as the Democrats take control of the House, the White decided that they will go thru the FISA courts. For the majority of the show, we discuss what’s going on in politics for the last couple of weeks with Bill Scher of the Liberal Oasis. We start off with an excellent discussion on what’s going on with Bush’s policy. Surge. Why has Bush decided to go against the Generals and the Congress and the American people? We have the nerve to mention the word – civil war! The US likes some militias and don’t like others. We believe that there should not be any militias if we really believe that we are trying to start a democracy in Iraq. Can the Democratic Congress really stop the Iraq War? Nope. We review history. Iran-Contra. Vietnam. Excellent example of how little power Congress has in directing a war.

Political landscape is discussed. We talk about Hilliary getting into the race. We talk about the Democratic candidates. I think that everyone has already made up their minds about Hillary. Bill disagrees. Bill does point out the most important thing is not the candidate but instead these guys need to understand and articulate progressive ideas. This is the most important thing that can happen. Here, Here!!!
In honor of Martin Luther King Day I play a portion of Martin Luther King’s I have a dream speech.

Where’s the Outrage? 9/9/06

This is the rough cut.  Great show.  Robin Cape Asheville City councilwomen discusses some of her green initiatives.  How about plug-in electric buses?  Or that save us money?  It sure would improve the air.  I also had Mike Hopping from Common Sense at the Nuclear Crossroads on the show.  We discussed the shipping of nuclear material across the country.  So material may pass thru Asheville!

Bush has a brand new series of speeches that sound remarkably like his old speeches.  We are winning.  We are fighting.  Finally, I have to jump on the Path to 9-11 bandwagon.  Why air a show about one of the most sensitive issues in America today and not try to get the facts correct?  Profit? (I decided not to watch it.  I had recorded Spike Lee’s When the Leeves Broke so I watched it instead.  What a powerful documentary!!)

I’m on iTunes!!
