This is one of my all time favorite Stevie Wonder tunes. Higher Ground. From Stevie’s great album (yes, I typed album), Innervisions… one of the best pop/ R&B albums of all time.
The musical celebration last Sunday was absolutely outstanding. There were great actors, great singers… truly a fabulous celebration. One of many highlights was the performance by Usher, Stevie Wonder and Shakira.

Very catchy tune with 2 beautiful women. What more could you want on a Friday night? Sting started this trend of working with Middle Eastern music with Desert Rose (Actually, the trend of looking outside the US for musical inspiration was made popular by Paul Simon with his album Graceland. Before him, Dizzy Gillespie looked to Cuba and other Latin countries in the late 50’s and early 60’s). Beautiful Liar continues the blend of American pop with Middle Eastern/Indian music.
