Spurs win!!!
Amazing. Astounding. Speechless. These are the words that come to mind as I try to describe the San Antonio Spurs’ wing over the Miami Heat. Gregg Popovich has been a force in San Antonio for more than 15 years. He has preached a type of basketball which is rare these days. He really teaches team basketball. Instead of getting the ball to the superstar, get the ball to the open man. This is why the MVP was not Tim Duncan or Manu Ginobili or Tony Parker. The MVP was Kawhi Leonard. He was the open guy. He had the hot hand. They played GREAT team defense.
The Heat needed more firepower. They didn’t have it. LeBron carried the Heat through the first quarter, then… he needed some help. Wade, who I think has been hurt the entire season, couldn’t do it. Bosh, who only shows up on special occasions, couldn’t do it. Midway through the third quarter the Heat needed someone to step up but no one answered the bell.
Congratulations to the San Antonio Spurs!!!! (more…)
