Chic – Good Times

Artists: Chic and Sugar Hill Gang
Tune: Good Times and Rappers Delight

One of the groups that I truly loved from the Disco Era was Chic. Bernard Edwards was the bass player. I’m not sure that there has ever been a dude that could consistently lay down a groove like BE. He was outstanding. Even in several of their average tunes Bernard Edwards was alway groovin’. “Good Times” was a huge, outstanding hit. It spent over 19 weeks on the BillBoard’s 100. Nile Rogers was the guitar player who became a HUGE producer in the ’80s. Tony Thompson was the drummer who laid down the beat and later played with the Power Station (huge super group – Duran Duran and Robert Palmer).

The Sugar Hill Gang wasn’t the first group to perform “Good Times,” but they were the ones that made a huge hit even bigger.
