Spurs – Cavs – Bad Basketball at its best

Steve Nash in open court

A couple of weeks ago, I posted that the NBA gave the championship to the Spurs when they suspensed Amare Stoudemire for getting up off of the bench.  There was a choice.  The rules were clearly unfair.  But we are where we are.  San Antonio has cruised since then.  The Cavs are nothing more than a speed bump on the way to the trophy.

This is not what I think of when I think of the NBA.  I think of some of the best athletes in the world running, jumping and scoring.  Scoring from the top of the key and the corner.  Spinning, twisting, falling on the floor and scoring like George Gervin, Bernard King and Rolando Blackman (my favorite Maverick of all-time).   Scoring 70 points in a NBA finals game is terrible.  These guys can’t shoot.  Yes, I like defense but the name of the game … the purpose of the game is to put the ball in the basket.

Commissioner David Stern was crying about the NBA ratings.  Why?  The referees need to call fouls.  Travelling is never called.  LeBron got fouled on the last 3 point shot that he took.   Hell, if someone did that to me in an airport I would call the police.  Stop the fouling and hacking.  That’s the problem.  There is no scoring in the playoffs.  Fans will go and see the Mavs play the Suns because they are fun.  Is there anything more beautiful (on a basketball court!  It is clear that Marissa Miller,  Ana Beatriz Barros or  Jessica White are by far more beautiful) than seeing Steve Nash in the open court with 2 guys filling the lanes?  Why because you know that he will make the right decision with the ball and either hit the open man or drive it for some wild, crazy , goofy shot that 80% of the time will go in.
