Governorships in Virginia (a conservative state) and New Jersey went for the Democrats. Bush did some last minute stumping for Jerry Kilgore the Republican candidate in Va. In 2002 President Bush helped many local candidates get over the hump. With his approval ratings at an all time low, he didn’t appear to help. Even more important, The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger), who pushed and pushed to get a conservative adgenda through the California legislature, took his ideas to the voters. He was defeated in both initiatives. Has the Republican tide turned?
I feel a Republican panic in the air

Although Va. is known as a Repulician state a Democrat is now taking over as Gov. Some believe that Timothy Kaine’s victory over Jerry Kilgore for Gov of Va. was due to the fact that Jerry Kilgore ran a lot of negative ads. You are right… It appears that Mr. Bush’s last minute effort to step in turned out not to be helpful. Mr. Bush’s approval rating at the time in Va was less than 50%. To have Bush show up, Kilgore had to be desperate.
The part of the election results were the failure of all four of Arnold’s props in California. The once hugely popular Arnold was stream rolled by the teacher’s union and a few others. So, I’m guessing that we are not going to need to admend the constitution for another couple of years.
