There are several folks int he back of the pack of the Democratic race. This clip doesn’t really address why they are at the back. One reason is several of these guys are dull as tears. I believe that Dodd and Biden are very good Senators. Neither of these guys really excite the main stream Democrat. Bill Richardson should excite the main stream Dem. Yes, his speeches could have more feeling and emotion. He could inject some excitement into his speeches. On the other hand, he is clearly the most qualified. He seems to be very thoughtful. I like what I see. I wish I could see more.
Governor Bill Richardson – cranks it up

I think it’s a wonderful commercial. I really like Bill Richardson. However, I was troubled by the fact that he stuck by Alberto Gonzales just because he’s hispanic.
That, to me, was really poor judgment.
Sticking by a person when they have done the things Gonzales has done, simply because they are of the same race, is not a good thing, not at all.
Not prejudging peopel is actually a virtual. Richardson never stated he supported Gonzales simpley because Gonzales was Hispanic. He wanted Gonzales to have the opportunity to testify under oath, answer questions and explain himself before calling for Gonzales resignation.
Gonzales is also the hightest ranking Latino ever to serve in an administration. That is a source of pride for Latinos, and I’m sure this was also a factor in Richardson wanting to give Gonzales the opportunity to explain himself. Gonzales failed the test and Richardson promptly called for Gonzales’ resignation after he testified.
The only governor competing for the Democratic nomination, Richardson is uniquely positioned to win in November 2008. Over the past 30 years four governors have won the presidency. In the entire history of our nation, only two senators have accomplished that feat.
Moreover, the ability to generate support from outside the Democratic base is critical to the Democrat’s regaining control of the White House. Richardson has repeatedly shown he can attract support from Republicans, gaining 40% of the Republican votes cast in his re-election last November.
With Richardson at the head of the Democratic ticket, Democrats start with the same states carried by Senator Kerry in 2004. Latinos, who voted for the Republican nominee in 2004 in a greater percentage than ever before, would largely return to the Democratic Party. New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona and Florida would become blue states. No longer would the fate of the Democratic candidate rise or fall on the outcome of one state.
The race for the Democratic nomination is wide open. The sense of inevitability of Senator Clinton as the Democratic nominee at the beginning of the year has vanished. Her favorability/unfavorability rating is almost even, the worst of any major Democratic candidate. From the latest polling from Iowa, the number of undecided voters is increasing, support for both Senators Clinton and Edwards has dropped and Richardson’s support, while still under 10%, is growing. (Obama and Biden also increased their support in Iowa compared to last month.)
As Richardson gains name recognition and voters learn of his outstanding record of accomplishment – Congresman, cabinet secretary, UN ambassador, Governor, Noble peace prize nominee – his poll numbers will continue to rise.
Concerned Voter and Stephen –
Thanks for your comments.
I agree that Bill Richardson will be a force to be dealt with before this primary is over.
Thanks again.
Richardson is definitely the smartest Dem candidate out there right now – I predict that these commercials will really help him gain momentum in this campaign. It’s time for a change and he could be the one to make it.
Here’s the video of both ads in one place, in case you want to post it: http://www.thenewsroom.com/details/313283/Campaign+2008?c_id=jlt

I’m for anyone and anything that raises the debate. I’m tired of debating stem cell research and abortion. The teenager at Wendy’s who can’t make change without a machine now that’s a problem. That’s something that I want to talk about.
Thanks again.
