I think that this is a legitimate question. Hell, with Beck’s craziness, Hannity almost sounds sane. (JJP had a nice piece on this yesterday.)
Now, let’s see what Tim Wise had to say about this. This gets good:
Let’s play a game, shall we? The name of the game is called “Imagine.” The way it’s played is simple: we’ll envision recent happenings in the news, but then change them up a bit. Instead of envisioning white people as the main actors in the scenes we’ll conjure – the ones who are driving the action – we’ll envision black folks or other people of color instead. The object of the game is to imagine the public reaction to the events or incidents, if the main actors were of color, rather than white. Whoever gains the most insight into the workings of race in America, at the end of the game, wins.
So let’s begin.
Imagine that hundreds of black protesters were to descend upon Washington DC and Northern Virginia, just a few miles from the Capitol and White House, armed with AK-47s, assorted handguns, and ammunition. And imagine that some of these protesters —the black protesters — spoke of the need for political revolution, and possibly even armed conflict in the event that laws they didn’t like were enforced by the government? Would these protester — these black protesters with guns — be seen as brave defenders of the Second Amendment, or would they be viewed by most whites as a danger to the republic? What if they were Arab-Americans? Because, after all, that’s what happened recently when white gun enthusiasts descended upon the nation’s capital, arms in hand, and verbally announced their readiness to make war on the country’s political leaders if the need arose.
Imagine that white members of Congress, while walking to work, were surrounded by thousands of angry black people, one of whom proceeded to spit on one of those congressmen for not voting the way the black demonstrators desired. Would the protesters be seen as merely patriotic Americans voicing their opinions, or as an angry, potentially violent, and even insurrectionary mob? After all, this is what white Tea Party protesters did recently in Washington.
Imagine that a rap artist were to say, in reference to a white president: “He’s a piece of shit and I told him to suck on my machine gun.” Because that’s what rocker Ted Nugent said recently about President Obama. (more…)
Apparently Mr Wise has no idea who King Samir Shabazz is, or more likely he has chosen to ignore it, pretending that all racism comes from whites.
Why no condemnation of Shabazz from Where is the Outrage?
Why no prosecution of Shabazz for incitement?
And why did Eric Holder refuse to prosecute other Black Panther Party members for voter intimidation?
Black privilege?
AS usual, you see what you want to see. There aren't any major news outlets promoting Shabazz as just an unhappy patroit. As a matter of fact, I can't find any major news outlets that have covered his story. On the hand, how many have talked and promoted the Tea Partiers are patriots? This is what I'm pointing out here.
Here is a nice article on the craziness – http://washingtonindependent.com/56918/civil-ri…
I love the fact that you are talking about the Black Panthers as if they exist. 2 guys holding clubs ain't the Blank Panthers. Shabazz from what I have read has NO following. There is no NBP. There are 2 guys with clubs. That's it. They intimidated hundreds or thousands? Neither. In Florida tens of thousands were intimidated. I'm sorry the fact that the right wing is making a big deal out of this racist moron with a club is laughable. Once he gets a radio show with following of tens of thousands like Mike Savage then I will call him out for being the moron that he is. Until then I'm going to stick to major issues as best that I can.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Is it only a crime if they intimidated thousands, not dozens, or even one?

A Black Panther leader caught on videotape inciting violence against another race, saying 'what's wrong with you black man? you have to kill crackers and their babies' just aint news, apparently.
I called the guy a racist. I try and cover major people and major issues. The fact that the Bush administration didn't investigate this guy 2 years ago isn't news any more. it really never was. I didn't talk about the Minutemen who did the same thing to Hispanics.

The Bush administration's Justice Department — not the Obama administration — made the decision not to pursue criminal charges against members of the New Black Panther Party for alleged voter intimidation at a polling center in Philadelphia in 2008.
The Obama administration successfully obtained default judgment against King Samir Shabazz, a member of the New Black Panther Party who was carrying a nightstick outside the Philadelphia polling center.
The Bush administration DOJ chose not to pursue similar charges against members of the Minutemen, one of whom allegedly carried a weapon while harassing Hispanic voters in Arizona in 2006.
No voters have come forward to claim that they were intimidated and did not vote because of the New Black Panthers' presence outside the polling center.
The Republican vice chairwoman of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, which is currently investigating the Justice Department's decision, has said that the case is “very small potatoes” and that it has been surrounded by “overheated rhetoric filled with insinuations and unsubstantiated charges.” She has further stated that the investigation has not “served the interests of the Commission” and that the DOJ has given a “plausible argument” for not pursuing additional charges in the case.
