News Roundup – Yahoo!, Russia and Zimmerman

Did you know or care that Yahoo! has changed their logo? Yep, that was keeping me up all night. By the way, what is it that Yahoo! does again?

Russia has started to wake up and decided that it could play a constructive role in the Syria mess. So, here’s what went down. Kerry said, “Sure, he could turn over every single bit of his chemical weapons to the international community in the next week — turn it over, all of it, without delay and allow the full and total accounting.” He said this in response to a question about what Syria could do to avoid getting shelled. The Russian foreign minister then said – Russia would join any effort to put Syria’s stockpile of chemical weapons under international control and ultimately destroy them. This is a way out for everyone. The question is whether Syrian President Bashar al-Assad will play ball. It sounds like he is interested

Zimmerman. Yep, that George Zimmerman is back in the news. Instead of me adding my jaded commentary, here’s what was printed, “George Zimmerman has been detained in Central Florida after an incident involving a gun, and police are investigating “possible domestic battery,” according to Orlando Sentinel reporter Jeff Weiner.” Shellie Zimmerman’s 911 call is here. I have nothing else to say about this man whom conservatives held up as a model citizen, a man of law and order… NOT!

Sometimes when some of my liberal friends talk about militarization of the police force, I roll my eyes. But when I read about a 107-year-old man shot by a SWAT team, I think that they might be right. There was nothing else to do but shoot the man? Really?

Shhh. Don’t look now, but all of that stuff that you thought you were encrypting? Not so much. The NSA is reading it all.
