Nearly ten years ago, I was having problems with this blog. I couldn’t download large files, and I can’t remember the issue. So, I started a companion blog, wtoblog.net. I haven’t posted to wtoblog.net since 2015. It isn’t doing anything, but it isn’t helping anything either. So, today, I have decided to delete the blog.
This brings me to another issue: Do we still need blogs? Blogs exploded on the scene in the early 2000s. They were a great way to express your opinion. Well, I’m not sure how great they were. They were a way for some people to express their views. After about 2005/6, blogs were everywhere. It was hard for Joe Blow to start a blog and to get traction.
If you look at just the progressive blogosphere, there were 15 or 20 major blogs. They were a major force in the 2008 presidential campaign. Then, because of Facebook and Twitter, blogs seem to have slowly died out over the decade. This is one of the reasons that Trump was able to blast his nonsense. There was Twitter, and Twitter was huge. Everyone had Twitter on their phones.
Now, the Daily Kos is the lone big blog. The other progressive blogs have all died out. I still post because I still have things to say.
