News Roundup: ISIS, Comets, BB King, Stevie Wonder

American Special Operations mounted an offensive against an ISIS military leader in Syria. Abu Sayyaf, described as a mid-level Islamic State leader in Syria, was targeted by Delta Forces. Exactly why he was targeted is unclear. The Islamic State leader was killed during the raid. There were no American casualties.

Here are some cool pictures of a comet developing its tail. These were taken from a satellite which we have orbiting the comet.

The great blues singer BB King died earlier this week. The blues is as American as apple pie and baseball. It is a genre that many of us don’t get. But, if you take some time and immerse yourself in it, you’ll find that BB King was the king of blues.

Here is his signature song, which he didn’t write, but he made it his own: “The Thrill is Gone.”

Artist: BB King
Tune: Lucille

Stevie Wonder had his 65th birthday last week. Here’s Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and Gary Clark, Jr’s tribute to Stevie from a few months back. “Fingertips,” “MasterBlaster,” and “Higher Ground,” which, in my mind, may be Stevie’s best tune.

Artist: Stevie Wonder
Tune: Higher Ground

One of the greatest things about YouTube is that you can find videos that you never knew existed. Sting and Stevie Wonder on the same stage. OMG!!! These are my two favorite artists of all time. Check it out!!!

Interview – War Dogs Making it Home

Sometimes you don’t really appreciate what kind of wonderful friends you have. I have known Dr. Robert Smith and Dr. Roxanne (Rocky) Roberts for over a decade. I met them at one of the trauma meetings we attended back in the ’90s, if I’m not mistaken. Great folks. I had no idea that they were interested in helping veterans. Hell, we are all interested in helping veterans. The difference is that they have done something. This is a great low-cost solution that seems to be working. I’m for any solution that works and is basically drug free. The program is small, but they have already seen great results. The vets have praised this program. Check out this great program. (If you would like to know more, you can get more information here. Executive Summary of the program.)

The Police – Roxanne

Sting is one of my favorite artists.  I came to the The Police late.  I’m not sure where I was or why I hadn’t heard of them yet.  I was visiting my sister at Austin College.  I was in a friend of mine’s room.  He asked me if I had heard of The Police.  What?  Why?  The name of the album is what?  Zenyatta Mondatta.  In spite of my very closed mind, the first 6 or 7 tracks blew me away.  I have been a fan ever since.

Doesn’t Sting look impossibly young in this clip?
