This tune just has an understated power and groove.

Released July 1967, “Cold Sweat” is a song performed by James Brown and written with his bandleader Alfred “Pee Wee” Ellis. Brown recorded it in May 1967. An edited version of “Cold Sweat” released as a two-part single on King Records was a #1 R&B hit and reached number seven on the Pop Singles chart. The complete recording, over 7 minutes long, was included on an album of the same name.

Vanessa Williams

Artist: Vanessa Williams
Tune: What Child is This?

Over the next week or so, I’ll be posting holiday tunes that I truly love. For me, the holidays are as much about spiritually as they are about music. Andy Williams, Stevie Wonder, the Jackson 5, Mahalia Jackson, James Brown, Bing Crosby, Johnny Mathis and the Temptations were just a few of the artists that I grew up listening to during the holiday season. Over the years, I have added to this list. In 1996, Vanessa Williams released her Christmas album entitled Star Bright. It was simply fantastic. Currently, I need some fantastic music in my life. Enjoy.
