Appalachian State

I have seen a ton of football but going into Michigan. 110,000 crazy fans. There is no way that a small school like Appalachian State has a chance. To quote Berman - And that is why they play the GAME!!

------

From ESPN.com:

Chances are, most of the 110,000 fans at the Big House had no idea exactly where Appalachian State is located.

By the time they saw a blocked field goal in final seconds, this much was certain: The little Mountaineers pulled off one of the greatest upsets in college football history.

Appalachian State 34, No. 5 Michigan 32.

The team from Boone, N.C., took the lead with 26 seconds left when Julian Rauch kicked a 24-yard field goal. Corey Lynch blocked a 37-yard try on the final play, and the Mountaineers sealed a jaw-dropping upset that might have no equal. (more...)

Ken - Everyone outside of Michigan is proud of your team, too. Thank for your comments.

Yes, it is suprising to see a small university football team take out a large and weel ranked program. But....Look at the football history and previous performance at ASU. They have a long history of producing quality teams. Maybe oneday if an interstate is built through the small town of Boone, NC (I hope it never happens) you will see them make a division change. Untill then ASU is just too far off the beaten path for large schools to travel to. So for now .... I'm proud of my team. GO APPS. ASU Alumni Ken Allen

Elloit - Thanks for your comments. Kurma? I'm not sure. I think it is good ole hard nosed football. App State had a coach that prepared his players. They were ready to go into a stadium of 110,000 fans who were looking to go home at half time. They had a better game plan. They understood how to attack Michigan and play their own strengths. They used their speed as a weapon. They also used a very good quarterback very well. App State didn't let their quarterback sit and sit in the pocket to get killed. Great game. I would not be surprised if the game isn't made into a movie!! A major movie!!!

That game was AWESOME!!! I burned it onto a DVD! It looked to me like the better team won that game. I get tired of seeing shcools like Michigan at the top of the polls every year just because of their name recognition. That's what I like to call football karma!
