Sharpton Romney – What's up with this?

Posted on: May 10th, 2007 by ecthompson md No Comments

Al Sharpton has an interesting Black figure. He has supported the Black cause and at times seems to be out to promote Al Sharpton. So, the other day, he was debating believe in God with Christopher Hitchens who does not believe in God. His new book is God is not Great: How God poisons everything.

Here's what Sharpton said, "As for the one Mormon running for office, those who really believe in God will defeat him anyways, so don't worry about that; that's a temporary situation." The Romney camp responded with the vigor that one would expect from a Republican. Sharpton tried to explain himself, "What I said was that we would defeat him, meaning as a Republican. A Mormon, by definition, believes in God. They don't believe in God the way I do, but by definition, they believe in God."

Is Sharpton a bad guy? Is he the same as Imus? Sharpton like Imus has a history of running his mouth. He says too much to make his point. He goes out on a limb. I don't know. Below is the video. You decide.

Mullah cimoc - I'm sorry but I find your comments. Tasteless. I don't believe that you can't spell or know the difference. I believe that you are trying to be funny. Nice try. Back to the drawing board. E

Gem - There are different standards for different people. Comedians are clearly allowed to say more and do more than say a TV news anchor. also, the context in which they say, whatever it is they're saying, is also important. D. L. Hughley is an excellent example of a comedian that is almost made it. He has almost had a couple of successful sitcoms. His comedy tours have almost been as successful as Bernie Mac's. He is one of those comedians that can be funny but oftentimes isn't. The best way to combat someone like DL Hughley is to write the station and write the network that you don't think it's funny. Get several of your friends who feel the same way to do the same thing. Also, write a letter to Jay Leno. Jay Leno has been on the air for over 20 years because he is not controversial but yet he still funny. I promise you, that Jay Leno has no desire to tarnish his image with a marginal comedian who is marginally funny. Thanks for your comments.

mullah cimoc say this good lesson for ameriki people. 1. Him sharpton having the low IQ, the low moral standard, the no ethical standard. why usa media master want make him speaking for all black ameriki people? him loser. Who elect him for speaking for the black ameriki? This showing the control usa media. sharpton him the working for the mighty wurlitzer, but him so low IQ him not can know this. (google: mighty wurlitzer +cia)

I sent the following to Rev. Al. I hope he proves he is not a hypocrite. To: Rev. Al Sharpton, National Action Network a The comedian, DL Hughley recently made the following comments on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno: "There were some nappy headed women on the team and those are some of the ugliest women I have ever seen in my life.” DL HUGHLEY on Jay Leno. Where is the outcry from mainstream media, the African American community, or all these people that called for Imus' head on a platter? The Rutgers Women's Basketball team members are beautiful! When the world gave them an opportunity to rage and unleash a fury toward Imus, they didn't. That's beautiful. When they had the eyes of the world on them, the exhibited grace and dignity. That's beautiful. When they had every reason and opportunity to malign and attack Imus, they forgave him. That's beautiful. D.L. Hughley's latest venture was canceled so he tried to piggyback on a painful period in our history by attempting to get a laugh on the cheap and THAT. WAS. UGLY! WhatAboutOurDaughters.org is dedicated to combating negative portrayals of African American Women in popular culture. Apparently after Studio 60 went belly-up, DL landed at BET, the bastion of black empowerment ( NOT!). His new show on BET is called S.O.B., a hidden camera reality show. Ask Viacom, the owner of BET, if this is the kind of message it wants to send to African American women and girls. What about our daughters? Or are you only concerned when the degradation of Black women comes from outside the community?

I see Reverend Sharpton and I wish he were Jesse. I see Jesse and I wish he were King. I see Justice Thomas and he is so far from Thurgood Marshall that I just have to avert my eyes from Justice Thomas.
