Sarah Palin and her fellow Republicans

I will not pretend to know the inner workings of the Republican Party. I do find it compelling that the ink on national newspapers which stated, "Obama Wins!" was not dry before the finger-pointing began in the John McCain camp. I don't know how smart Sarah Palin is, but I do know she performed terribly in several different interviews. The rent a car bulgariastream of unnamed Republican sources that have called Sarah Palin this or that is somewhat mind-boggling. Remember, just four years ago, we were talking about the discipline of the Republican Party. I guess it is much easier to be disciplined when you're winning than when you're losing.

I think we're seeing more here than simply knee-jerk backstabbing. I think we're seeing people beginning to jockey for position within the party. The big question is in which direction is the Republican Party going to go? s it going to be the party of Sarah Palin? She clearly energized the base but does not appeal to anyone outside of the base. Will it be the party of Mike Huckabee...or Mitt Romney? What about Ron Paul? Is the Republican Party going to push the religious right out? I don't know the answer to these questions and I'm not sure that anyone in the Republican Party has a good answer either. I do believe that there are several major players within the Republican Party who would like to diminish Governor Sarah Palin's luster.

I would add to your list Ronald Reagan. He was written off. He re-tooled his message and came back to win the presidency. I feel pretty confident that she will be back. 2016 or 2020 isn't out of the question. thanks for your comments.

I stand amazed at what I'm seeing regarding this issue. I agree with you that I feel that there are elements that wish her to be gone. Many of my friends said before the election they would rather have her as the nominee. I do think she could be a contender, if she gets out there and gets experience. Nixon, George Foreman, and Frank Sinatra made comebacks after being written off, so why not her? That being said, I am no fan of President-elect Obama, but I am willing to see what he does before making a decision. That is what I feel has been the problem all along. Bush II's election was just a knee-jerk to Bill Clinton. I feel that BO was elected under a similar circumstance (though one could hardly blame anyone after the last eight years), and people will not wait and see if they are right or wrong about the other candidate. He does come with an advantage, though. I think the bar of expectation is pretty low for Republican-leaning folks, so if he does marginally well he will get lots of converts for 2012.

This reminds me of what I heard about some anonymous golfer who decided to act like a jerk and take a cheapshot at Tige Woods. Jim Rome was right to call him out saying to him something like "anon jerk, without Woods, people would not care about your profession, so go back to where you are being, anon jerk." I simply have zero respect for people who start rumours but are too afraid to show their faces.

I feel the same way about anon sources that throw Palin under the bus as I did about Rev Wright when he threw Obama under the bus. Just as what is private between a pastor and member of his church stays private, what is private between Palin and those staff members stay private. And if they feel such a need to violate that privacy, before or after the election, put their faces to their gossiping ways, rather than hide, so people can't challenge the veracity of their claim. I oppose the policies as you know of Obama and his party. But I live by 1 Tim 2:1-4 to strive to be at peace with all men and pray for all in authority, since God's love extends to them, too, whoever they may be. And to obey authority of those God put on earth, per Romans 13. I can't criticize those who won't honor authority when Bush in power and turn around and refuse to honor my new President, Obama. Yes, I can criticize him where I disagree with him, especially his support for abortion. But I wish him the best. And because I love this country, I hope he does well for this country, regardless of my differences with him.

I find it amazing that after the Democrats managed to seize the White House, the Senate and the House; you're still worrying about what the Republicans are up to. If the promised Hope and Change are to mean anything at all, then it is Americans everywhere that must get beyond the pettyness of partisan politics and actually live the dream. I wish Obama well. I HOPE that he and his fellow Dems don't CHANGE things for the worse.

I will be surprised if Palin is the 2012 nominee. I am a little surprised at how the McCain campaign seemed to throw her under the bus. Remember, they went after her, she didn't ask them to be the nominee.. Just my perception.

I still want to see if Governor Palin accepts the 250 million in earmarks that are on the current spending bill. Senator Stevens attached these. I want someone to ask her about those,.
