Sending Signals

I just read about the Tobacco Hornworm Caterpillar (above) in New Scientist Magazine.

When the caterpillar eats a tobacco leaf, the leaf releases molecules that attract a predator of the caterpillar.

This is just like how when folks who support the Tea Party and the Republican Party bash government, immigrants and Muslims; a signal is sent out to the rich to come and prey on all of us.

I am glad to know I am rich because I hired a guy to cut my grass, He has a new baby and does lawncare on the side. I took a second job just so I could help people out and get some stuff done. I am glad I made the rich list. I will remember that while I am cleaning the office building

Congratulations, M. I have known u for over 15 yrs. I didn't know that u were rolling in the money.

Can you believe it has been 23 years? Like I say "Rich" is in the eye of the beholder.

Wow!!! Really? Now, I need to go get my Geritol.

Hey Margaret, glad to be in good company. My partner and I just hired a young guy to cut some small trees. He had the initiative to call us looking for work, which was impressive enough in the county I live in (I'm convinced I live in the disability/entitlement capital of the USA and guess what--they're all Teabaggers!) Anyway, he's young, we know he has a new baby. We are perfectly capable of cutting the trees ourselves, and no we aren't rich, we have worked our butts off for everything we have, and are glad we can help somebody at least a little bit in exchange for taking one day of tree cutting off our long to do list.

Rich is all in the eye of the beholder isn't it. It is people like you and me who look out for others even in little ways but it helped someone else out. My lawnmower is brand new but my time is limited.

yes 'rich' is in the eye of the beholder, which makes it all the more ridiculous for the Democrats to continue their class warfare strategy.Someone making $200,000 in New York City and someone making $200,000 in Aurora Nebraska aren't equally well off, but Obama wants to demonize 'the rich' that 'haven't paid their fair share'.Demagoguery such as that makes a rousing campaign speech, but it is no way to run a country. But it is easy to stir up envy and get votes. And keeping power is all that Democrat leaders are really concerned about. If you don't believe me, just listen to them tell you that they don't even bother to read the ludicrous legislation that they push on us.“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?” John Conyers http://blog.sunlightfoundation.com/2009/07/27/rep-conyers-dont-read-the-bill/------------------"I don't think you want me to waste my time to read every page of the health care bill. You know why? It's statutory language. We hire experts." Max Baucus www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/...didnt-read...bill/62030/ --------------------Senator Chris Dodd was asked for a reaction to Obama’s apparent intention to name Harvard law professor Elizabeth Warren to be the interim head of the new Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA) created by the Dodd-Frank financial reform legislation.Dodd’s reaction?Confusion:In dismissing the rumor last night, though, Senate Banking Committee Chair Chris Dodd — who authored the law — claimed he’d never heard of the interim appointment power.“I don’t know what it is. I never heard of it before,” said a flabbergasted Dodd to TPMDC. “It’s kind of unique isn’t it?” The problem? The power to make this interim appointment comes from legislation that is actually named after Dodd. http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/chris-dodd-didnt-read-the-financial-services-bill-he-alleged-authored/---------------------------------Nancy Pelosi: We Need to Pass Health Care Bill to Find Out What’s In It http://www.breitbart.tv/nancy-pelosi-we-need-to-pass-health-care-bill-to-find-out-whats-in-it/---------------------------------and often they don't read the bills they demonize eitherhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6qEQ-KnitQSo, if they don't actually read the bills, is it any wonder that they are clueless what effect the bill will have?

Joe - I don't see any evidence that Obama is painting the rich as evil. I don't see that at all.

I know. You refuse to see any of it.

Signals are funny things, Dr Thompson. Can you tell me what kind of signal this is? http://apps.detnews.com/apps/blogs/watercooler/index.php?blogid=667

That is very funny and sadly true.It reminds me of another analogy in the natural world. When spores of a certain fungus (Ophiocordyceps unilateralis) land on certain tropical carpenter ants the effects of its parasitoidism is to cause the ants to descend to a precise level in the tropic canopy and clench onto a leaf stem and die. The fungus then grows out of the ant and enjoys the correct temperature and humidity for its well being, which is why it zombie-ized the ant to move to that level. The spores of GOP "tax cut" causes the devoted believers to elect officials who push big tax cuts for the wealthy (who zombie-ized the voters with their campaign cash) and next to nothing for the devoted believers. I'm worried that the Joe White committee is showing signs of the infection because they are acting quite wooden these days, not as nimble as before. Are they about to clamp down on the leaf stem?

Nearly everyone in your audience has a job because someone else was 'rich' and had money to hire them. Go ahead and kill off all of 'the rich' , doc. See what's left when you do.
