The only bad part about this is that they got to get rid of Olbermann for something like this and not just because 1. He’s the “worst person” on tv and 2. His ratings are horrible. But if that keeps his smug countenance from making any guest appearances on Sunday Night Football, I’m a happy guy! I wonder if Rachel Madcow and Chris Tingle will stand in solidarity?
It is so seldom that the left is even willing to question whether one of their own has said or done something inappropriate. A friend of Obama Bernadine Dohrn, wife of Bill Ayers, said recently ""We are radicals today; we think that the real terrorist is the American government – state terrorism unleashed against the world." Of course that coincides with Ayers statement on 9/11/2001 as he reflected on his actions ""I don't regret setting bombs. I feel we didn't do enough."
Joe – it is hard for me to describe how many ways you're wrong. As true progressives, true liberals, we question everything. We are not certain about anything. It is part of what it means to be a progressive. As far as I know, Bill Ayres is not part of the progressive movement. He is not been endorsed by any Democratic candidate. He is a friend of the president. I have friends who are conservatives and friends who are liberals. I don't stand up for everything that they say. I don't feel responsible for all of my friends actions. The president should not be held responsible for something a friend of his has said or something a friend of his' wife said. When representative Jefferson was under investigation, he was suspended from his committee chairmanship until the investigation was complete. This took me less than a nanosecond to prove you wrong, again.
Do you really mean that unless a person is "endorsed by a Democratic candidate" that they are not a progressive or 'not part of the progressive movement'? Really? Must be a pretty small number of folks involved in the progressive movement. How many Democratic candidates have 'endorsed' you, doc?

Olbermann is suspended and I have a few questions
Here's what I don't understand. Is there a policy at MSNBC or not? If there is, then is it being applied to everyone or only to Keith Olbermann?
From Josh Marshall at TPM:
Greg Mitchell comments on the media for The Nation. Here's what he has had to say:
A little later, Rachel Maddow tackled the episode, saying that she understands the NBC rules about asking permission before making a donation--as MSNBC's Joe Scarborough apparently did at least once. But she insisted that the "point" had been made and "we need Keith back." She then profiled the multitude of Fox hosts donating to, fundraising for and outright endorsing Republicans. "We are not a political operation," she said. "Fox is. We are a news operation. And the rules around here are part of how you know that." Here's a transcript.
