Diverging

I recently spent two weeks in my former home town of Cincinnati.

My father was dying of cancer. He died on March 12.  I was fortunate enough to be in town with him for the last ten days of his life.

I drove around Cincinnati while on my visit. While looking around, I took this picture of railroad tracks that you see above.

I felt the picture well-conveyed the fact that my father would soon be diverging off the main track of life.

And that is just what he did.

My prayers are with you and yours that the Lord will strengthen and sustain you through your time of grief. That poignant photo and brief commentary are very telling. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss.

I am sorry to hear about your dad. My brother died from Lou Gehrigs disease last month at 52. The memorial is next month and I am planning on driving the 22 hours for the service. He was a geologist and loved the mountains especially in New Mexico where they are going to spread his ashes. I am driving to give me time to reflect what really matters in this life... Thank you Neil I always enjoy your columns.
