Our problem in America

Posted on: November 22nd, 2011 by ecthompson md No Comments

I posted this a couple months ago. I thought it was worth taking another look.

Year Median Income Median Home Prices
1975 11,800 39,300
1985 23,618 84,300
1995 34,076 133,900
2005 46,326 240,900

What else do we need to know? Wages lagged behind home prices. We Americans borrowed to keep up. We need jobs and we need better wages. (When I say "we," I'm not including the CEOs and the fat cats on Wall Street.)

I suspect the gap narrowed since 2005 with the housing crash. I know mine dropped. Lost all my equity and then some.

Yes and no. You are right that housing prices have dropped. Median income has dropped also. Housing prices has fallen more. Hope your house price improves.
