I'm growing a little tired of the "controversy" over Bain Capital. Is Bain Capital off limits or is it not? Mitt Romney has been running for president for at least the last six to eight years. He continually comes back to his main qualification. He would be better at running the economy because of his time at Bain Capital. He has repeatedly stated that he knows how to create jobs because of his time at Bain Capital. A private equity firm, Bain Capital is designed to make its shareholders money, not to create jobs. Mitt Romney has failed to show the American people how he would create jobs. Sure, he probably knows how to create a couple hundred and maybe even a couple of thousand jobs, but we need millions. How's he going to do that?
Mitt Romney sat down with Time magazine's Mark Halperin in order to clear the air about Bain Capital. You decide. Did he clear the air or simply muddy the waters?
If you thought Microsoft's Kinect was cool, you have to see The Leap (see video below). It is extremely affordable at only $70. It seems to be much more accurate at detecting your movements, even fine movements of the fingers.
If you want to know why our economy is still in first gear and can't seem to get going, the answer is really simple – we need Congress to be able to compromise. This has nothing to do with the leadership of the president. The president can talk and can offer suggestions, but the bottom line is that individual members of Congress have to compromise. We have somewhere around a third to half of Republican Congressman who believe that compromise is tantamount to treason. This creates gridlock. The bottom line is that we need stimulus now (I know it's an ugly word) and once the economy gets going, once more Americans are back to work and are spending money, then we need fiscal restraint. If we get it backwards, we will put millions of Americans out of work and cause our economy to stagnate even further. This is a no-brainer.
There are nine new pieces of evidence in the Trayvon Martin case. Again, although these are new pieces of evidence, I'm not sure that they change the basic facts of this case. The basic facts – teenager walking home gets confronted by a neighborhood watchmen. Teenager dies.
If you simply do the math, Republicans will lose this upcoming election. Younger people tend to vote Democratic. Latinos and Blacks tend to vote Democratic. Women tend to vote Democratic. Just look at the demographics. So, if you're a Republican strategist, how do you fix this? Simply put, you limit the ability for these folks to vote. You come up with some phony voter fraud. Suppress the vote.
Right now, you can read the headlines about how a woman got kicked off an airplane because she wore a pro-choice shirt. That's not entirely true. She wore a shirt that had offensive language on it and the shirt was pro-choice – that's more correct.
Archaeologists have found the earliest evidence of Bethlehem's existence in the First Temple period.
One would figure that for as long as Mitt Romney has been running for president, his organization would be running extremely efficiently. His message would be as clear as a bell. Not so much. Now, Mitt Romney is pledging 6% unemployment if he is elected president. It wasn't that long ago when he was stating that unemployment need to be 4% or lower. Maybe he needs to listen to his own speeches.
Amnesty International is complaining that the Osama bin Laden raid violated international law. It probably did. It also needed to be done.
Hewlett-Packard has announced that it will lay off 27,000 employees. When you sit back and think about Hewlett-Packard, especially over the last 10-15 years, you have to conclude that this company has simply been wandering. It needs to focus on something.
Former First Lady Nancy Reagan is slowly recovering from a fall she had several weeks ago. She is currently 90 years old. One of the challenges in medicine is how we can improve the balance of the elderly. We see way too many elderly Americans falling and breaking their hips or their ribs and then subsequently developing complications which can be deadly. I wish the former First Lady a speedy recovery.
How big is the cloud? How big is the computing cloud? Someone with more time on their hands than I've got sat down to put pen to paper.
