Iraq has met 0 goals

Remember the put several months ago where several generals and Vice President Cheneywent to Iraq and asks the governement officials to get their act together?  Do you remember that?  Well, a funny thing has happened, in spite of all of the pressure that the Bush Administration has put on the Iraqi government, they have met NONE of their goals.  There is no agree on oil revenue sharing but we all knew that this would happen.

Update:  As Anne pointed out, we haven't met any of our benchmarks either.  We haven't restored power to pre-war levels.  We haven't restores basic law and order.  Iraqi fear kidnapping and death on an almost daily basis.

We must all reject the "they will follow us home" mantra.

Anne - Thanks for the comment. You are correct. We did none of the basic things that are necessary for a democracy to grow and develop. We have yet to restore power to pre-War levels. We have yet to restore basic law and order. To my knowledge no democracy has ever developed in the face of civil unrest. I know that critics will point to our own American Revolution but I would point out that citizens didn't fear that they were going to get shot or blown up at any minute. Thanks again.

While finding a dependable power center in Iraq has been frustrating, I would argue that the U.S. has not met any of its goals/benchmarks either, with disastrous consequences. While we have an admittedly difficult task given the circumstances, it is cowardly for us to demand Iraqis do what we cannot do ourselves.
